Aluminum and Zinc Die Castings

Die casting is a process that is characterized by forcing molten metal under high pressure into a mold cavity. Aluminum die castings are available in alloys including 380 & ADC12. Zinc die castings are available in Zamak #3, #5 & #7. ANA International, Inc. provides custom manufacturing services for precision metal die castings.

Commutators

A commutator is the moving part of a rotary electrical switch in certain types of electric motors or electrical generators that periodically reverses the current direction between the rotor and the external circuit. As a switch, it has an exceptionally long life considering the number of circuit makes/breaks that occur in normal operation.

Magnetic Materials and Assemblies

Alnico Magnets

Aluminum, Nickel, Cobalt (referred to as Alnico) is manufactured by traditional foundry casting or sintering techniques developed in the 1930’s. This kind of material offers the best temperature coefficient (0.02% per degree centigrade) of all permanent magnets making it an ideal choice when a constant field over a wide temperature range  (‐270°C to +500°C) is required.

The high nickel content results in good stability against corrosion and oxidation. However, Alnico magnets are a low coercive force material and most times should be magnetized after assembly. The performance can be affected by mishandling or exposure in other magnetic fields.

Bonded Ferrite Magnets

Bonded ferrite magnets are a composite material of ferrite magnetic powder and compound rubber or plastic. The products are available in both anisotropic & isotropic grades.

Bonded NdFeB Magnets

Bonded Neodymium magnets are produced using compression molding techniques that can be quickly machined into complex shapes. The material is made in an isotropic process and the performance can reach up to 12 MGOe. It has a maximum operating temperature of 120°C but a rather poor temperature coefficient. The Curie temperature is 340°C. Its isotropic characteristic allows magnetization in any direction.

Magnetic Materials and Assemblies

ANA International is your single source for magnetic and inductive components and assemblies. We have a full line of permanent magnets and soft ferrites. 20 years ago, we were one of a few suppliers in the world for high performance magnets used in electric motors. Our business has expanded rapidly and we’ve become a company that can support your needs in each direction, from R&D project to consumer product. No matter how big or small the requirement is, we always guarantee your satisfaction.

Sintered Ferrite / Ceramic Magnets

Developed in the late 1950’s, sintered ferrite (ceramic magnets) are manufactured from a composite powder containing 80% iron oxide and 20% barium or strontium oxide. This powder is die pressed into a component that is sintered in a kiln at approximately 1200°C.

Sintered ferrite has a wide range of applications due to their low cost. They can be made in arcs, blocks, rings, discs and other shapes. Principal applications are DC motors, loudspeakers, reed switch operations, magnetic separator assemblies and general holding devices. Sintered ferrite has a good resistance to demagnetization and can be magnetized before or after assembly without danger of losing any performance. It can be used in operating temperatures ranging from ‐40°C to + 250°C.

Sintered NdFeB Magnets

Sintered NdFeB magnets are manufactured under powder metallurgy technology. Compared with other magnetic material, it has the highest energy. Based upon the current research and development, the BHmax has reached over 50 MGOe and it is still going higher. It is widely used in various applications. However, it still has the disadvantage of poor temperature coefficient. Also, it easily cause corrosion in the air so the coating or plating are often used to protect the products.

Sintered SmCo Magnets

Sintered Samarium Cobalt rare‐earth (SmCo) magnets are manufactured under powder metallurgy techniques. The composition of this alloy is approximately 35% Samarium, 60% cobalt with the balance being Fe and Cu. By adjusting the percentages of this composition and changing the sintering & heat treatment cycles, two grades of 1:5 and 2:17 can be produced. The differences between them are energy product and temperature coefficient. The 2:17 offers higher performance and lower temperature coefficient.

Soft Ferrite

The soft ferrite contains Ni, Zn, and/or Mn compounds are used in transformer or electromagnetic cores. They have a low coercivity so they are called soft ferrites. The low coercivity means the material’s magnetization can easily reverse direction without dissipating much energy, while the material’s high resistivity prevents eddy currents in the core, another source of energy loss. Because of their comparatively low losses at high frequencies, they are extensively used in the cores of RF transformers and inductors in applications such as switched‐mode power.

Metal Injection Molding

Metal Injection Molding (MIM), also called Powder Injection Molding (PIM), is a net‐shape process for producing solid metal parts that combines the design freedom of plastic injection molding with material properties near that of wrought metals.

Today, MIM is serving critical performance applications in a wide range of industries and products including, automotive, aerospace , medical and electronics etc.
